How can I get rid of dark circles using home remedies?

Since the skin below your eyes is extremely sensitive, it is better to use home remedies to fix your dark circles rather than opting for chemical based store bought products.

Below mentioned are some tried and tested home remedies to treat dark circle:

1.   Cold compress:

Wrap 2 to 3 ice cubes in a washcloth and put them on your eyes for 20 minutes. Cold compress helps in shrinking dilated blood vessels and reducing puffiness. By doing so it lessens the impression of dark circles.

If you don’t have ice you can damp a wash cloth with cold water and use it for the same impact.

2.   Cold tea bags:

If you have been throwing your used tea bags in the trash then you’re missing out on some serious skincare treasure.

To use tea bags for reduction of dark circles, soak them in water and then chill them in the refrigerator. Now place these cold tea bags on your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.

Use green tea or chamomile tea bags to get maximum results.

3.   Grated potato:

Since potatoes contain natural bleaching agents they can help lighten dark circles.

What you need to do is, grate a potato and place its shreds either directly on or extract juice out of these shreds. Now soak cotton balls in the juice and apply them to your eyes for 10 to 12 minutes. Make sure that you cover the entire under eye area completely.

4.   Aloe vera gel:

One major reason for dark circles is dryness or lack of moisture in the under eye area. So if you treat dark circles with a natural moisturiser like aloe vera gel they will surely start getting better.

Apply a thin layer of aloe vera gel under your eyes for 10 to 12 minutes. Now rinse it off with cold water. You can repeat this remedy twice or as the need be.

5.   Cold milk:

The lactic acid in milk helps in reducing the impression of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. It also soothes down any puffiness with its calming properties.

For this remedy take a quarter cup of milk and chill it in the refrigerator. Now dab two cotton balls in this milk and press them over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this remedy 3 to 4 times a week to see amazing results.

6.   Tomato and lemon juice:

Tomatoes and lemons are packed with essential vitamins so they can help lighten the under eye area magically.

For this remedy dice a tomato and extract 3 tablespoons of its juice in a bowl. Now squeeze 3 tablespoons of lemon juice in the same bowl. Give these juices a good mix, and apply it with the help of cotton balls under your eyes. Make sure that the juice doesn’t go into your eyes.

Leave it on for ten minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat this remedy twice or thrice a week.

Dark circles are very stubborn and only if you use above mentioned remedies consistently you will see a difference.

But even after being consistent you don’t see much of a difference, then see a Skin specialist in Karachi to get yourself analysed.
